Russian rations

How long do the mains stay good for in a Russian rations?
uhhh... the old kind, with the tins, not very long. I think around 1 year...if that. Honestly, I wouldn't trust them more than 6-8 months.
I think there are new rations with retort pouches, I have no clue about those.
