early 1980s British ration haul
Today I got the motherlode of gs rations, from only 5 minutes away from me . So much stuff - 12 hexi cookers!
Not really sure if I wanna sell/trade any of this, but - if you have an offer - send me a PM
There's more as well, some of the tins are soaking in bleach right now. The best part - I got it for free

Would be interesting to know if any of it is edible. While I highly doubt it is, you never know... If stored in the proper conditions maybe. You do have to watch out for those cans though, as they do tend to "alter" the taste and appearance of the food inside.

they were stored in some guys garage for the past 35 years, so I'm not too hopeful. All of the milk and stuff is still powder though. about 2/3rds of the cans were leaking, I washed em down with a hose and put them in bleach to hopefully kill any botulismcavguy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 1:31 pmWould be interesting to know if any of it is edible. Wow cap, nice find.
Garage rations are display only, but you may get lucky... do you have a pinch opener?
I have some GS, but pinch opened lots of bloated MCI to preserve the cans

what's a pinch opener? What I find best is sanding off the lip at the bottom of the can, talking out the contents, and superglur it back on. You can also weigh it and fill it with the right amount of sand

Yeah the sanding trick works too, a pinch opener pops the seam of the can lid, no cutting.
I got one off amazon for $5, for my bloated mci cans...

I left some cans in bleach overnight, then boiled them just to make sure there was no botulism. I still have like 5 cans in the shed, I'll get to work on them soon

Sorry, a tad late to the party here. That's a fascinating find, I've not really looked into any older British rations, I'd love to see some more of this. Did you empty the cans in the end?

It’s so funny how people so close sometimes have these things. That’s how I got two cases for 2007 menu b MREs. Haha from some random guy on Facebook market place.cap174 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 1:05 pmToday I got the motherlode of gs rations, from only 5 minutes away from me . So much stuff - 12 hexi cookers!
