That's not bad on the IMP's really considering how hard they are to get... last case i spotted on ebay was $99 for 2003's i think... I'd also like the address of that gun board - sounds like my kind of place!

Guess i'll have to watch ebay closer, i miss those IMP's! beans and weiners and lasagne were pretty good as i recall.

Sounds like you're a shooter too eh? any particular type of arm you prefer? I've been meaning to get into black powder - have the gun sittin behind me in fact, just haven't had the time to go out and learn how to shoot the damn thing!

I guess us BC boys know how to spend our time and money lol...

Normally, I don't divulge my sources for these rare and delectable treats. However, since you have gone to all the trouble of setting-up this Board, I will tell you.....Please keep it to yourself Eh!..... 8)

The Board is Canadiangunnutz.com....We are a Canadian based Board with an International Membership that is currently about 12,500 members, I am one of 28 Moderators ( I have the same UserID ) and 5 Admins that try to keep things somewhat sane....

I help Moderate the Information Centre, Legalese, and General Firearm Discussion Sections....

To access the Exchange Sections, one has to first register (Free) , then apply for access to the Exchange section (Free) and if desired there is also an Off Topic Section (also free)...

Once you have access, go to the "Exchange of All Other Stuff" Section in the Equipment Exchange

I have just done a search and found none listed for now....They come up from time to time....Check often... and you'll have to stay sharp if you want to beat me to the draw.... :D

Prices can be good or bad....yer da judge......

Thanks, Jack - appreciate the info! Now that you mention it, I have seen that website come up in the referrer logs for mreinfo.com. I've tried to go there before but since it always required me to register, I hadn't gone too far. But now that it sounds like they have some interesting stuff there, I'll have to check it out!

I had three IMPs -- from years 2001, 2002, and 2003. So, I decided to try the oldest one first.

In case anyone's interested in the contents:

2001 Lunch menu number 2 "Chicken Casserole With Rice"

Chicken Casserole with rice (Wornick - 8 oz)
Caramel Apples (Wornick)
Bread (in pouch) 2 oz
1 packet cranberry jelly (.7 oz)
2 packets peanut butter (.7 oz)
Orange beverage mix
Hershey "Cookies 'n' Cream" candy bar (full-size; 43 grams)
Hershey "Taste Tations" single hard candy
Herbal Tea bag (black currant)
Instant Coffee
2 sugar packets
2 coffee/tea whitener packets
salt
pepper
matches
towelette
brown napkin
eight-inch long white plastic spoon
toothpick

The casserole was not bad. Nice big chunks of chicken with rice in a somewhat-familiar-by-now Wornick-seasoning. I don't know if anyone can relate, but there's a certain seasoning blend which I've found common in a few MREs. Hmmmmm. Well, it wasn't bad. I guess I should not have expected anything new and interesting when I saw the Wornick name emblazoned in red on the silver entree package.

The other Wornick product -- Caramel Apples -- was interesting. What comes to your mind when you think "Caramel Apples"? Yeah, the county fair or some other fun time when you had that big apple on a stick with the gooey, sticky sweet caramel all over it. Well, get ready for cooked apple pieces in a goopy "caramel-like" sauce. It had a somewhat odd flavor -- perhaps an artifact of the five years it spent in a foil pouch? Meh!

Coffee and tea is nice, I suppose. I prefer coffee. I sampled neither.

While watching Letterman a few nights after my Wornick-produced meal, I glanced at the "Petit Pain / Bread" in its foil pouch and the packets of peanut butter and cranberry jelly. Should I make a "five-year-old PB&J"??

Just the thought of it made me tear open the pouch (with its warning on the outside NOT to eat the desiccant packet) and examine this curiousity. It sort of looked like what you get when you cut the end off a loaf of pound cake. About that size, but browned on both sides, and almost an inch thick. So, with my trusty serrated bread knife, I split this bakery item evenly and squeezed on the peanut butter and jelly. Pretty darn good, I thought! Just the thing for a late night snack.

What else? Oh yes, the candy bar was edible -- I don't care for white chocolate.

So, that's it for the IMP review.

The 2002 IMP is a Supper meal - Lasagna in Tomato Sauce
The 2003 IMP is another Lunch meal - Navarin

Yeah, I had to look that up, too. It's Lamb Stew.

But, that's for later.

Thanks for the review, CaptBob. That reminds me that my two cases of IMPs are probably from 2001 so I'd better start going through them to check out the contents just in case they start heading south.

Looking forward to your next reviews!
