They came in a neutral, extra outer box... :(
I guess x-ray made them curious. I know customs looks for everything and maybe I catched that newbee at his first day straight from customs school that need to find everything to get a Corporal-Customs-Officer...

I´m still glad they didn´t charged me anything!
A gifts value more than $45 (or €22 I guess) cost you some tax and customs fee

I´ll write my wish list "sans porc" anymore

housil, sorry to hear about your IMPs being violated. Is there some new restriction against shipping pork? I know various countries have restricted beef in the past but this is the first I've ever heard of pork.

They released in Jan. 2006 a control of enimal epedemic diseases against the swine fever.

All pork that is beeing sent into Europa, had to match with European regulations against the swine fever and you have to annouce the shipment in advance at the customs with a proof of origin according to EU regulations bla...bla...bla...

Didn´t know that either

This EU guys got to much cow disease beef...

Maybe the "revange" for the 15 tons-hurrican-Katrina-relief-EPa´s rejected by US authorities

At least they turned the cargo plane with the EPa"s away. Not like the british rations that got either incinerated ,thrown to the garbage  ( due to the mad cow scare... :( or the few that went to private hands and got sold @ ebay....

Maybe the policy of the german zoll is due to Chancellor Merkel's wanting to go back to traditional ways of farming ...free of hormones, pesticides etc...

Is a shame. Don't they realize if is given to their troops is ok???
Except the chinesse and the melamin ....

Peace!

I don't know about that - I have four cases of EPa from one of those shipments!

There have been "several" shipents.

Sep. 2rd 2005. The first Bundeswehr Air Force Airbus arrived with 10 tons (9.000) EPa´s as hurrcan relief at Pensacola FL.
Sep. 4th 2005. Second Airbus arrived Pensacola with another 15 tons (11.000) of EPas.
Sep. 6th 2005. Third Airbus arrived at Pensacola with another 15 tons of EPas.

Sep. 9th 2005. US government denied a forth Bundeswehr Airbus with another 15 tons of EPas to unload. The Airbus had to fly back to Germany with all its disaster relief EPas:
"...a fourth German Army aircraft was refused permission to land because the Department of Agriculture in Washington was worries that the relief supplies might spread the cattle disease BSE in the U.S.
...
" http://www.atlantic-times.com/archive_d ... cordID=316

Same with 500.000 UK and Russian rations.

German EPa had been official cow disease (BSE) free proofed by NATO an UN rules to feed German and US troops at Afghanistan

Bush told ABC-TV: “I’m not expecting much from foreign nations because we hadn’t asked for it. I do expect a lot of sympathy and perhaps some will send cash dollars. But this country’s going to rise up and take care of it.”

Housil, it is nice that you got some of the rations there but a shame that the inspectors took the rest. I bet they ate them! A year or so ago I had reeived some British 24 hour rations and they had been opened by our agriculture/customs people and they removed canned cheese from them but what I found strange was that they did not remove all of ttins of cheese, must have been time for coffee break or the end of the day and they wanted to leave for happy hour...LOL

They put a letter inside that they had removed the cheese and gave me the reason and then resealed the box with US Customs tape. They did a nice job and did not destroy much, just cut the tape holding the rations closed.

Look forward to a review or two from your raped IMP.
