That's really cool Cap! Never seen that before, amazing to see not much has changed in terms of the chocolate bars, biscuits and muesli bars. A lot of it is made in New Zealand.
I only ever had the CR1Ms when I was in for a year, and those little paper squares were in all of them. I think they are used to identify which ration menus/types the components were destined for before the ration itself is packed, you would see a corresponding colour square on the ADF cardboard boxes that contained 2 sealed metal canisters of 5 rations each.
Funny story - when I was doing basic training and they were giving us a lesson on ration packs during our first time out field, one of our section commanders tricked us into believing that those paper squares were "beer rations" for when we got back to the base for use at the pub.

He also stashed a $50 note in the accessory pack to make us think that some rations contained money for us to spend at local shops in case our supply was low! It was really convincing at the time...
