Question about Australia cr1m package dates

Post by TechManDan » Thu Feb 02, 2017 12:59 am

The date on the outside pack is it the best before date or is it the date packed? How long are the items suposed to be good for?

The date on the outside is the packaged date. The CR1M will be good for at least 3 years. I've eaten 5yo CR1M's and they were still good.

You can eat them well past their BBD, they even say that in the paper that comes with the CR1M.

I was definitely worried after opening my CR1M and seeing most of the best before dates are 6 months or less from the pack date. I unfortunately have had the displeasure of coming across counterfeit rations before where the pack dates were altered. However this is not the case. After digging through pictures and video I found that this is normal. Most items have a best by date of only 1 year, which is really low considering how well they are packaged. Sniiip3r pointed it out in the paper provided with the ration that they are still good beyond the best before date. I still find it odd that they would have such a mixture of extremely short best before dates. All in all my sons and I are looking forward to chowing down on this awsome ration!

Hello! I know this an older post, but it's just the question I was curious about myself. I'm currently waiting on my CR1M to arrive in the mail. It has a package date of 2017. I was curious how yalls came out after all. Was there any complaints you had as far as feeling like some stuff might have expired or maybe tasted a bit off? I mean who am I kidding...im going to try everything regardless! Lol just curious before I get into it! Thank you for yalls time! :D

I've had a few also. Even when 4 or 5 years old, everything is still good. The can of peaches is a little rusty on the outside, and the chocolate will have bloomed, but everything else was great.
