Hey guys, first post here, thanks for letting me join the forum!
Thought I would post this. What do you think? I bought an F-111 ADF flying ration but what I received was not the same item described/shown to me. It still has it components and is sealed thought. Do you think there would be any difference apart from the sweet green ration container? The seller just said "oops" sorry. Bit disappointed bc was keen to have a ration from a fighter jet, lol. Cheers mates.

Welcome to the forum!
Don't know much about this item personally, but as far as the purchase was it done through eBay? If so you could always dispute it and get your money back

It appears you were scammed. The tin on the top has sticker from a store on it. He most likely bought it cheep from the army navy store and added a few things.
All in all you should get what you pay for. I def would get your cash back!

Re: Flying Ration Question (Australia)
Thanks guys, yep bought through eBay. Paid $50AUD ($37USD) and that included shipping. I was thinking about disputing it but I guess that would also mean returning it. Even though it's not what was in the picture, still seems cool. I need to open it up and see what is in there.
The white sticker on there says EFR 15-12-09. So I assume that is when it was packed. Inspection should be done Sep 2010 but I have no idea what "TX" means.

Re: Flying Ration Question (Australia)
The ration looks authentic actually but it not being OD green, I am not sure of why. It is an authentic container, it has the same NSN code. Same stamping. Tightly taped up just like one would.
So your best bet? If you are concerned about not having an OD green container to have after you eat the ration and it's enough to not want it I say return it and have him cover the shipping.
But I would go ahead and open it up, share some pictures and see what it's all about. We can all learn here too and see what may be different with yours.
Unless it was sold for a bunch of money, I cannot see why someone would go through the trouble to remove the OD paint from an authentic Aussie Flying Rat and re-seal it with the same tape in a such an immaculate manner, filled with some knock-off surplus components. I don't really know about that. If so, kudos to whomever for their creativity on re-purposing and duping someone on a ration. I've been victim to weirder. Old canvas pouch Vietnam War-era LRP's pouches from dead stock getting re-filled with 1998 Wornick RCW components. Or a super well-faked K ration filled with armor vienna sausages and lance crackers among other civvy snacks all from the mid-80s. Gotta find the photo set to that one because it was odd.
Point is, Workman could be right.. people will re-fill rations or make pretty good fakes. But in this case yours even though not OD green.. I say it looks like a beautiful ration still and if it cost anything less than a hundred dollars I say it was still a worth it gamble.
**Edit*
Looks like while typing this you mentioned the price. Not bad I say. Score really!
It at that kinda price is worth the experience of just finding out what it's looking like inside.

Thanks for that Steve, good idea and thanks for the advice. Here’s what’s in mine, the yellow item is a razor blade.
