Time to say good bye...

...to +33 years old Epas

So while digging thru my cases, I noticed today one EPa has mold outside Image

I opened it to figure out, a jam was leaking and caused this.
IMG_3301.jpg
OK, after 33 years this can happens
IMG_3302.jpg
So lets figure out, how is everything .

The crackers had lost their vacuum.
After opening, they smell rancid.
IMG_3303.jpg
Hows about the coffee?
Normal smell and it looked like normal. OK.
IMG_3305.jpg
So how are the entrees?
They weren´t bulky!
No "hissing" noise when cut open
IMG_3306.jpg
(Italian style noodle dish was everybodys darling!)

Doh´. Whats that "shiny" look?!
IMG_3307.jpg
Due to Chef Ramsey, it´s so fresh it´s still bleeding...
IMG_3308.jpg
but no bad smell.

Same with the goulash
IMG_3309.JPG
no bad looking
IMG_3310.jpg
no mold
IMG_3311.JPG
no bad small.
But I didn´t dare to give it a try.

But hey - the matches as good as on their first day

If anybody wants these 1990 + 1991:

Interesting I got to eat several of those when I was stationed in Germany in 90-91. Might be fun to take a trip back down memory lane.

Housil!

i showed the picture of the Italian style noodle dish to a official food inspector and he said it was just stiffened fat after long time storage and not harmful.
when you heat the dish it will mix back in,he said throw away the jams and any thing with lost vacum from factory :D

If the fat didn't have that blue tint I might have believed him, but if I were you I wouldn't bet my health on that it's still good to eat ;)
A good macro close-up would have changed his mind I'm sure.
Unless it's something funny with the light in the photo, but it sure doesn't look just like "pure" fat.

Well, the EPA's packed in 2009-2012 are still good-to-go. 8)
After the Chicken and the Egg, came the "Omelet"!
