Are they still issuing the Multi-Climate rat packs out to the troops? I thought these were only a trial ration and the new 24hr. operation ration pack bridged that gap.

The MCRs have I believe now been discontinued. The menus shown have been used by myself in the past few years. Not seen many recently filtering through.

I find any of the UK ration menu's that contain beans (for breakfast at that!) are great. Can't beat beans for breakfast!

I used to get beans for breakfast in the Navy.
Sounds strange, but I liked it!
Of course, I also loved S.O.S...
Especially with a couple of hard boiled eggs smashed up and mixed in!
YUM!
Still do, when I find it.

I've used the MRE's in the posted menus over the past few years. These menus are the only ones I kept, didn't know that I would become a member of this web site.

The sausage and beans are O.K., but do not confuse them to the tinned Heinz variety. A great many of MRE contents are good, although the muesli???????. Sorry guys, have never been able to work that out.

The big surprise was in menu1, MCR pack, steak and vegetables, now that I really enjoyed, but only ever had two since, seem to be scarce now.

As stated in postings on the site, the Rat Packs do not come with a Hexi cooker, I do use Hexis from time to time, but usually use a Campingaz cooker.

Never, ever get salt and pepper in the packs, for proper porridge you have got to have salt. Anyway, these condiments are usually collected from various fast food outlets by my family.

Regards to all,

Forgot to say that the tea is bloody awful. Typhoo is well known over here, but what the hell is Classic black tea?, never seen it on the shelves in shops. PG Tips tea bags every time for me.
