Arab Ready Meals

Currently, most Arab armies buy their combat meals from Europe or the US. Now Arab Ready Meals, a joint Jordanian-Malaysian venture, has developed a combat meal package catering specifically to the Arab military.

Fielded in 2012 by the Royal Jordanian Army, the new ration pack aims to satisfy both military combat ration users and those requiring humanitarian feeding. Consciously based on the US MRE, the ARM provides a diverse range of ethnically & religiously acceptable meals for Muslims. The main ARM items are packaged in flexible 4-ply retort pouches similar to US MRE entrees. Ready-to-eat meals, supplements and sundries are placed inside a heavy duty plastic bag, providing an average 3600 kcal per ration, with a shelf life of around two years. The single meal ration pack consists of an entrée, a dessert, beverage and sundry items. The 24 hour ration pack has two complete meals and a light breakfast, plus sundries and supplements.

The main meals weigh between 140 g - 230 g per pouch. Current choices are:

(Kabseh is a traditional Arab dish made with long grain Basmati type rice, which is fragrantly spiced with bay leaf, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, dried lime, nutmeg, pepper and saffron.)

The manufacturer can also supply Western meals (such as spaghetti with meat sauce) on demand.
