Interesting.. I am trying to make out the sticker..

it says something about breakfast.. perhaps "Without Breakfast"

all I can make out is Sans POR% %% petit déjeuner - where % is a character I can't see.. actrually I cant see a bunch of them but it looks like it says petit déjeuner to my imperfect eyes..

And it has the date it was made: lol I can't read the month either.. but obviously it was 2003 so it should still be good..

My wife would kill me though even if I told her it was to use as a visual aid when I teach my son French...

Yea,I doubt if I could read it even if I spoke french!.Also there are some more of these from the same guy.I cant justify 22 bucks for a training meal,but i would sure like to try a rcir someday,along with a einmannpackun.The prices are reasonable but the shipping sure hurts!!

I don't really know any French, but I'm pretty sure that sticker says "Sans porc" - without pork. And then the third line is "Date of manufacture" and I *think* it reads 13 <somemonth> 2003.

That's right: sans porc means "without pork". The month Fevrier is February.

I did some research (ahum...) on the French RIE ration, and I found an official 'Armee de Terre' brochure on the subject!

In French it is named "Repas Individuel d'Exercice". Translated in English: Individual Exercise Meal.
Shelf-life: 18 month minimum.
Energy Value: 1.500 kcal / 6.280 kL - proteins: 14% - Lipids: 33% - Carbohydrates: 53%.
Variety: components are the same as in the RCIR, so 30 ready-cooked dishes are available (16 without pork and 4 that can be eaten cold).
Weight: 1.000 g.
Size (mm): 185 lenght x 155 width x 80 height.
Specificity:
- contains a kit for heating;
- overwrapped and waterproof;
- adapted to the military pack;
- all the components are analysed and traceability is ensured;
- strong and rigid packing.

And if you are wondering what RCIR means: Ration de Combat
Individuelle Réchauffable (=Individual Reheatable Combat Ration).

The French Military has the following rations:
- RIE
- RCIR
- RILC (Ration Individuelle Lyophilisée Commando)
- UACS (Unité Alimentaire de Compléments ou de Secour)
- RSA (Ration de Survie Air)
- MAS (Module Alimentaire de Survie)

OFFER.
At the moment I have 3 of these French brochures available. Each ration is decribed (in French & English) on a seperate flyer and has a color picture of it. I have sold this brochure on eBay for more than US$ 20 dollars!
BUT if you are interested I will trade for US MRE's. It is easy: You send me one fresh MRE (not the vegetarian crap!) and I send you one brochure.

There is also a BONUS: Recently the very famous Lithuanian Kitchen has met the also famous Lithuanian Army. The results of this culinair cooperation are the delicious "Maisto Pakuotés" (=Meal Packs). Yes indeed, Lithuanian style MRE's !!
I have also 3 sales flyers of the Lithuanian Meal Pack. I ad one to each trade.

I can serve the first 3 reactions. Positive reactions, that is...

Greetz!!

Lithuanian MRE's ar called "Sausas davinys" not "Maisto pakuotes". And I wonder why they are so very famous?
