UK rations yeast extract

Post by ak70g2 » Wed Feb 29, 2012 4:40 am

Recently I got form sw342pd some british rations, and I had one as testing. Letting aside the oddity "beans for breakfast" (here, in Eastern Europe, beans are strictly a lunch item http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fasole_cu_cârnaţi), I'm very curious about this item, Yeast Extract. What it is? Condiment? I can't think that one human being can spread this... thing! on a biscuit and eat it...

Search for vegemite - the aussies love it on a buttered toast and then spread it on very thin! Or use it as an spice for the meal!

Beans for Breakfast are unusal here in germany too, but I like them - sometimes!

Greets,
Lars

EDIT:
Yowie did a review of it some where.
TO
It was Bushmaster not yowie here is the URL viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4382&start=14

It has some interesting flavors, several different opinions about how to describe it.
some say it tastes like eating a bullion cube
some say it tastes like sunflower seed paste concentrate
everyone agrees its salty though
