Thanks, donaldjcheek! That certainly answers the question.
I guess it was hoping too much for them to have named it after me - the kman-ration. Well...it was a little bit before my time. :-)
early IMPs ....
I guess it was just in chronological order, isn´t it?kman wrote:Here's a question for everyone. I could probably google for it, but it's much more fun just to ask here...
Why are they called "k-rations"? "C-rations" (c for combat?) makes more sense, but I think that letter was taken.
There were during WW2 als A, B, C, D-rations.
Don´t ask me what happend with E, F, G, H, I, J-Rations...

Sorry, forgot to post about the D-ration (Individual Emergency Ration), basically a fortified chocolate bar.
There were also unlettered, special-purpose rations such as the Liferaft Ration, the Parachute Emergency Ration, the Bail-Out ration, the Air Crew lunch, and the Assault Ration (both of these latter rations were pocket-sized boxes of candy, with a cheese & cracker bar added to the Assault Ration).

"I think," said Christopher Robin, "that we ought to eat all our Provisions now, so that we shan't have so much to carry."
