Anyone have the new UK multiclimate rations?

Discussions about rations from other countries - IMPs, EPAs, RCIRs, etc.

Looks to me like the colourful paper cover can just be removed, just leaving the plain brown card box, which seems neutral enough to me.
Why not rename it the MOD universal ration or UR.
You could do, but I'm pretty sure that the other services use the rations quite happily regardless of the name.
I still think the contents balance is wrong though. Just lighten up and improve the mains, BRING BACK TEA
Any British ration that doesn't include tea isn't worth the name!!
The US can create retort egg dishes why cant we?
Pouch breead also could have been introduced.
And how about a FRH of some type??
Have you tried the MRE omlette? It's the worst ration I've ever eaten by far - I think we would be best to steer clear entirely! But I agree that adding some wsb and an FRH or two would certainly help the variety and make the ration alot more flexible.

@Stef and BJ

Yeah something like that, but not so much hat. They look like the armed wing of Hattytown (70s UK kids prog) :D

It is definetaly Medvedev. The truth is out there.

Yes I have and MRE eggs are a bit, shall we say, gritty  I thoroughly mash the pouch before heating, it seems to help. Or maybe its just me. Ive got a 91 brown ham and egg MRE that Im going to pop, and put a review about up. I am not a physical coward.. Stay tuned..
If we could give the world the mk 9 spitfire, surely the UK can create a decent egg based brekkie dish?? I love me eggs, me.

So why the silly bloody cover on it in the first place? Bet the printing etc cost a bit; Spend the money saved on tuning up the CONTENTS lol.

I still think Universal Ration or UR sounds cool.

TEA YYYEESSSSS! TEA is G ds own beverage. Everyone knows that

Obviously a heater and again, some form of pouch bread would be nice.

Very amusing responses lads. :)

As long as they don't look like like Zebebee in the Magic Roundabout

I'm not sure that's Medvedev, Putin wouldn't accept a picture of Medvedev ALONE on the can

And YES!!! ... eggs (scrambled), bacon (crisp, please) and mushrooms, hmmm :P

The slip cover will be for public sales only, past rations have been in a brown box with 'MOD USE ONLY - NOT FOR RESALE' printed on the lid, I'd expect the same for the issue version.

There is tea, it sadly just a Typhoo tea bag and not the 'INSTANT WHITE TEA'.

There is omelette in the 'All Day Breakfast' and it is very nice, this is the same meal as in the current issue rations and the MCR.

Taking a way the Oatmeal Block, what are they thinking?!

Vestey foods started out as a buthchers chain Dewhurst here in the UK, by a "colourful" personality called lord Vestey.
I still think the contents balance is wrong though. Just lighten up and improve the mains, BRING BACK TEA  and provide a really good breakfast selection. The US can create retort egg dishes why cant we?

Sorry but this ration has ticked me off. Its lowest bidder, coupled with muddled thinking. Grrrrr!

that's the army issue box. I think this is just the civilian version but with the same contents.

Saul No I havent had the all day brekkie tet :( but if its as good as you say, Result! A great leap forward in mankinds constant struggle to achieve decent retort eggies.
Right about the oatcake bikkie. Mind you, the rot set in when they took out real instant porridge many moons ago.
This jam sandwich thingy. Is it a mil -spec Jammie dodger?
fdsman cheers for vid. The little Union Jacks though.. would be good humanitarian PR for disaster relief but in any other context.. no.

The jam sandwich thing is indeed a Mil-spec jammie dodger. They appear to be from the Australian rations though as they are made by the same company that makes the yeast-extract 'Vegemite' and the jam spread. I tried my pack the other week and they were pretty good, better than normal jammie dodgers!

The new cereal bars are good too, much softer and have raisins in. The current ones are nice but you could break your teeth on them!

One other thing that annoys me about both the MCR and the current rations is the 'curry' menus, they ship with a separate pack of rice which on the face of it is good as it means more food. BUT, you need 2 mess tins and 2 Hexi cookers to heat them at the same time as they don't fit in one mess tin together with sufficient water to be able to heat them before the mess tin boils dry. The way I got around this when trying the full selection in Germany earlier this month, was to heat the curry part in the mess tin whilst the rice cooks in FRH. Still a ball ache though.
