Due to experience, if you use genuine Bundeswehr ESBIT cubes (they are bigger than civilian ones), after burning down HALF an ESBIT cube, your dish is well done! Keep it closed, the steam inside will heat it up faster, when the cover is "swelled" close to "explode" it´s right

"Plan B", take your fork (or any other spiky item) from cuttlery and stab several little holes in the (top-) cover lid, allowing the steam to come out. (Thats the way I do it every time.)
