Re: EPA supply?
Kman,
I'd like to comment, that goldenseal.com website is a real pain the ass to naviagte and try and get a definitve answer. I think we talked about that one in another thread and through some looking there was no 1-800 number to call or e-mail address to write to so I could call and get an qoute on cases. Seemed to me that it too was pretty bogus. Though they have nice pictures.

Re: EPA supply?
Hi. I found these at a local Lidl here in Finland, after reading this chain.
http://www.jakoon.fi/w/23060965396
http://www.jakoon.fi/w/23060967045
http://www.jakoon.fi/w/23060935704
The "best before" date is Nov 28/2010. They were not in a fridge at the store. There were other flavours there too. Turkey etc.
Manufacturer reads: Lidl Stiftung & Co. KG D-74167 Neckarsulm. Manufactured in Deutschland.
Could somebody tell me what these are?
Also the box has instructions only for microwave heating (3min at 1000 watt).
So how long in a oven (or on an esbit for that matter?

Re: EPA supply?
There was some discussion on the Lidl products at
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=952&hilit=Lidl that might be relevant to your question. If the item that you purchased is package in an aluminum tray, you can probably heat it in the oven or with an Esbit stove (remove lid first). You mentioned that the only heating instructions were for use in the microwave and that would not generally be possible if it were packaged in an aluminum tray with a foil cover. Did the instructions also include removing the contents from the packaging and placing it in a microwavable plate or container?
Also, 3 min in a 1000 watt microwave sounds a bit excessive for a 200g container of food.

Great find!!Johnny A. wrote:Hi. I found these at a local Lidl here in Finland, after reading this chain.
These containers are coming from the same manufacturer than the genuine Bundeswehr EPa entrees. The dishes are a little bit different.
They don´t need any refrigerating!
Read that posted link, very helpfull!!
3min at 1000W

We give it 2min at ~600W

Thanks for the answers. It sais remove cover (Pappe) and the lid. Then "put the tray on a plate that is microwave durable and cover it. The tray must not touch any metal or another tray. " It is aluminun.
It is 300g
3min for 1000w
4min for 750w
5min for 600w
So they just did not bother to put instructions for oven heating?
The text on the bottom reads "D-EV49 EWG"
It is the same as on in the pic on the link above. And the other pics.
The cardboard (Pappe) packake is in Finnish, Swedish and danish.
But yes, since I bought from a Lidl, they must be the same as you get there in Germany. My "Jägertopf" even has the same log cabin in the cover. Until yesterday when I red these messages it would have never occured to me that I could walk into a local store here and find these things just like that.
But do the german covers have insructions for heating in the Ofen? How long in what temperature? On the Esbit it seems simple enough, but I dont want to use those in my livingroom every day. Thanks.
Re: EPA supply?
I just realized something. The instruktor in this video sais that you can also eat the trays cold. In other words there are no bacteria etc. that needs to be killed by heating. So one can just test how long it takes in the oven until it is just right. Heating just "improves taste and moral".

Re: EPA supply?
If you realy want to heat them up into an Ofen, I guess you have to "try-and-error".Johnny A. wrote: But do the german covers have insructions for heating in the Ofen? How long in what temperature? On the Esbit it seems simple enough, but I dont want to use those in my livingroom every day. Thanks.
The best way to heat them up is in a pot with hot water and it´s cheaper than to heat up a whole Ofen every time for that tiny container

Re: EPA supply?
I agree with Housil, it makes no sense to heat up an oven for such a tiny item, it is a total waste of energy. If you in a situation where you have an oven available, you probably have a microwave available as well. If you heat it in boiling water, about 7-8 minutes should be fine (don't keep the water boiling, just bring it to a boil and then bring it down to a simmer after you put the tray in.) Over an Esbit, you would want to stir it while you heat it so that the edges and bottom do not burn. When the contents are heated through, it's ready, there is no real time instruction when you're dealing with the number of variables that you might encounter using an Esbit or any other outdoor stove.
