Australian rations pages done

Post by kman » Sun Dec 30, 2007 9:18 pm

Hey guys. Check out the now-finished Australian pages:

http://www.mreinfo.com/international/au ... tions.html

In addition to putting up the CR1M page, I also found some more pictures to add to the PR1M page.

Thanks again to everyone who contributed pictures. It turned out that I had a ton of stuff to sort through and organize.

Well done kman,
I had a 2000/01 menu D once, the first year` they went over to the retort packs(beef satay etc) was very very nice. Its amazing how much stuff they cram in, loved the muesli bars etc, canned cheese was a bit too artificial.
Sorry I havent got pics I ate it before I could take any!!
Would love to get hold of some of them new ones, they got some lovely sounding main meals. Anyone know any sources?

Enchilada, so you had a 2000/2001 CR1M that had the retort pouches? That was one area on the web page where I wasn't sure about the dates. I found one ADF article from 2005 talking about them wanting to switch from cans to retort pouches...but then I found some pictures of a ration from 2002 that had the retort pouches. So for now, I set the date of when they switched from cans to pouches at 2002 but it sounds like it might have been earlier.

Mine were 2001 and were retort pouches.
The cheese and pears were canned though.
Like I say those new ones look v.good.

Enchilada,
Hey, I saw on Ebay not too long ago that some guy in Australia was selling some Aussie/New Zealand Defence Force rations. The picutres showed only one type of meal. Most of it was the tan retort pouches, like US MRE's, with some civilian looking writing on the front on a white paper label. All of the meal(s) and condiments were bagged in another clear plastic bag. Didn't se any cans at all.

I was tempted to buy one but with the dollar kind of low right now the shipping was just a bit too much for me. He did have several that he put up and they went for alot of money. Haven't seen any around now. You might try checking Ebay. Australia and type "ration" in the search engine. One thing that kind made me wary was the fact that I wasn't sure that it was "genuine". After looking at the new Aussie Ration page by Kman I now know it wasn't but maybe some spin-off or maybe a ration designed to look military but designed for the civilian disaster folks
