Are 2006 cases worth buying?

I got a guy by me selling year 2006 cases of US MREs. I know they're not old enough to be cool by age. Is there any reason to buy them, except "because they are cheap" is the only thing I can come up with. Ive heard they are kind of rare because if Katrina, but that's merely a rumor.

Is that 2006 Date Packed or 2006 Inspection Date? If it's the inspection date, that means they were from 2003 and really could be Katrina MREs. Historical curiosity aside, that was a time when a lot of MREs sat in boiling hot trucks (or boiling hot swamps) and they'd definitely be what I call "heat stressed". But for $10 a case, I'd buy a couple of cases to check out just out of morbid curiosity.

How did you know they were $10 a case? And they're 2009 inspection.

Oh! For real 2006 date packed MREs? That'd definitely be worth checking out just for grins - I mean, I wouldn't rely on them for emergency food but they'd be fun to explore again. There are some good menus in there (McRib, Meatloaf, Veggie Burger) and some real stomach-churning ones (Cheese Omelet, Veggie Manicotti).

I didn't know they were $10...that's just my "buy it now" price for a case of really old (but not rare) MREs. It's either $10 for a movie or $10 for hours and and hours of MRE exploration!
