Looking to buy Italian rations.

I found a few Italian websites that sell them, but they don't reply to my emails. Non-US ebay sites also have them, but all sellers refuse to ship to US.
Are they that rare and hard to get?

I've found in my limited experience that, yes, they are very rare and hard to find in the US. I've seen one on eBay in the US, and it went for over $80 (without shipping) if I'm remembering correctly.

I found plenty of them on the Italian Ebay and noticed several things:
- There is a language barrier. Most of the sellers I talked to are using some sort of a translator (Google Translate for an example) and it is very hard to agree with them
- Shipping is too expensive. I asked a guy to send me one ration and how much the shipping fee would cost. For a ~4 pound ration he would have charged 40 EUR (from Italy to Hungary) and the ration was around 15 EUR.
- Most of them are out of date. There are ration with BBD of 2014-2015 (which could be still good IMHO), but sometimes the label for the manufacturing date is ripped of.
- Nobody buys them (or at least I have this impression). I see the same auctions and offers again and again, which I cannot explain, because they are around the price range of 10-20 EUR (for a 24 hour ration that is acceptable for me).

Maybe you like to share that link so European members can give them a try?

They want €21.50 for the ration + €16.50 s+h + another €36 GER -> USA
You can invite your whole family into an Italian Restaurant for this

I had a bunch of these rations a few years ago. I found them to be very unappealing taste wise, also the amount of food and the quality of the food was subpar, especially when you figure in the cost per ration and shipping. Max price I would put on one of these would be like 5-10 Euro each + shipping. In fact I would advise seekers of the Italian rations to just skip them altogether and go with the UK ORP, German EPA, or French rations. I guarantee you will find them more appealing than the Italian.

Yeah that's too pricey.
I would love to get the German MRE Type II, but they are just as expensive. Shipping alone is almost $50 on ebay.

Honestly for an Italian in-date that's not horrible. €74 is about $83 at the moment, and I've definitely seen Italian rations go for more in the US once shipping and whatnot is handled. It'd be an overly expensive set of meals for sure, but the opportunity doesn't arise too often.

The price is a bit high, but I would not mind paying $83 for this ration. I'm more worried about customs. Would suck paying so much and at the end getting just a spoon and 2 napkins or not getting anything at all.
