These are awesome! Two questions. One, is there a best by date, if so what is it? Two, do you know what it would cost to send these to Tennessee? I'm thinking they would be pretty cool to cook up during the meetup in October.

These are the old version of the group ration. These days they're polymeric plastic trays with peel film tops, but in either case (old or new) they were designed to last 18 months. I've eaten them as old as 6 years past expiration without any ill effects, but it really depends on the tray. Some things I've opened to find spoiled at the 3 year mark. Some things seem indestructible. These trays are probably in the 10-15 year range. Some may still be edible, but they're definitely collection-worthy.

Trays have no best-by-dates like MREs, only the same production code.

I can send 2 (= 7kg (=14lbs) ) via DHL for €50. Maybe I can find 3 trays that weight less than 10.

I still eat them and never had a bad one yet. I like the metal trays as you can heat them direct in a fire

You haven´t seen all I have yet...
(But Mrs. Housil also complains that half of the basement is my rations area and I have rent an extra farm barn for my extra stuff)

I am very much interested in some of your T-18's, Housil. I don't have much in the way of $ until June 21st though - if other folks buy them before then that is fantastic, but if you still have any left by then I would love to buy some! :)

By the way, I stared at that picture of your collection of stuff for like 20 minutes.. I think I am going back to stare at it a little more. ;)

As far as I understand from different articles on the Internet, the polymeric tray was introduced around 2003/2004. So these should be 2001 IMHO
