Replicating Brown Bag MREs for a project
Hey guys, long time viewer, first time poster here.
I'm wondering if you guys would know a good way to either replicate or make a stand in for the old brown bags from the 80s for a cold war movie project. I suppose I could use modern ones, but that just isn't accurate. Does anyone know where I can get bags similar to the originals wherein I can stuff modern components? I don't want my actors getting sick, after all.
I'd prefer not to slice into any vintage rations either to preserve their historical value. I mean face it, they're going to be rarer than C-rats from WWII at some point.
If anyone knows where I can get a stand in brown bag or knows how to make a look alike, I'd be appreciative.

gett some old style brown bags that have been opened nice.
use spray paint that they use renovating car interiors, they use a special softner in the paint so think it would work.
for the cardboard sleeves gett some old one from the time period but remember the new pouches are ligth tan greyish not dark olive color as in the 80s
so you migth need to paint them to.
crackers from the old rations are mostly good for eating so they shouldnt bee a problem.
if you pay the plain ticket from norway to the usa i could be in your movie doing the mre eating with genuin mres from the 1980s
Cheers ken,norway

I'd just buy a few on ebay. Use a razor blade and open them from the back side on the bottom. You could just use regular packing tape to reseal it from the inside. You could even re use the boxes. Gently open them switch out the chow with new stuff and use a glue stick to seal them.
Cheers

Wow, that would be great, actually. Honestly, one empty and one full would work swell for my purposes. How much would I owe you?

Hey if you need one or two more full sealed original ones and you're willing to cover shipping send me a PM. Would be 7 or 13 bucks-ish sending flat rate.
