Any way to grab IRP-P safely w/reasonable price?

Post by Pound cake » Mon Jun 03, 2013 11:49 pm

Hi, I'm interested in Russian field ration, namely IRP-P. However it seems that most of websites including Ebay require whopping 50~60 bucks including shipping to get a pack. While I'm eager to taste one, it's too much for a meal. Are there any sites I can buy one for reasonable price without being scammed?

Also it'll be appreciated if you can provide purchase info about rations of other eastern bloc countries or PRC. Thanks in advance.

I'm currently trying a trade with a Russian forum member - prado67 - but overall there's no cheap way to get IRPs. To get one to your door that's fresh enough to eat is going to cost over $50 so if that's just too pricey you may have to pass on this one. Very rarely someone will post stuff on eBay that they got while serving abroad working with other nation's military, but the US doesn't do a ton of joint maneuvers with Russians these days so it's pretty rare that Russians and Americans are exchanging meals in the field.

SovietMilitaryStuff.com sells IRPs (combat and personal) for $35 each plus $25 to ship internationally. I haven't tried buying from them myself but it may be worth a shot. At $60 each all said and done it's probably the cheapest option for fresh production rations.

Keep in mind these are 24hr rations. It's not just a meal, it's three meals and extras to get a soldier through a full day.

I used a wrong expression. I was aware of IRP-P being a one-day package. :D Still it's kinda awkward price IMHO.
It seems that I'll have to wait for someone who is willing to sell one. Thanks.

I probably should have asked where you are, because that makes all the difference. Far East to me refers to China or Southeast Asian nations. If you are in China you could check on www.ebay.cn or www.eim.ebay.ru perhaps. I'd suggest starting with the eBay closest to you and checking on the eBay sites for neighboring nations. You might be able to get the price down a bit. As for Eastern Bloc rations, I've had Polish and Lithuanian ones show up for pretty cheap - under $10 each for Polish and under $20 for Lithuanian - but then there's shipping. Again it really depends on where you find them. International shipping is always a pain and for me it usually costs more to ship the item than the item costs itself. Here in the states it's always a pleasure when someone happens to have extras of something foreign for sale. No worries about customs and relatively cheap shipping costs. The problem there is rarity. I don't see too many great opportunities pop up so it just takes patience.

Appreciate for the info. I should've stated my location(South Korea)more precisely. However it seems that ebay.cn seems to be some kind of corporate website rather than an online auction one, and eim.ebay.ru redirects me to the standard Ebay webpage. I tried other Chinese websites and was only able to find some Tushonka cans... :|

Sorry about that - they were on an older list and it must not have been accurate. I looked up the official eBay list:

Officially there are 22 of them.

Thanks. Still no hope I guess. I'll have to save up some pocket money to try famed Russian cuisine.
