Group Buy

Just curious about something and if this topic has been covered or beaten into the ground already please accept my apology. I was doing what all ration hounds do, searching the internet for ration items. In the process I came across quite a number of old forum and website posts from other sites mentioning 'group buys' when it suddenly hit me.

Why aren't we doing this? I mean, this is MREInfo baby! 8)

Im not saying this hasn't been tried or done here. Im certainly not pointing any fingers. Hopefully Im offering some encouragement. Some places have one type of tray pack and other places will have a ton of variety. Would it not be easier if we all worked together for a good discount? Besides... things aren't getting any better out there and I have the strange feeling we'll be dipping into our precious collections for simple survival at the rate the world is decaying.

Or I could be violating the traffic pattern by thinking out loud.

No, your not wrong it's just that we hear have not seen any group buys that were worth buying into and if we did the response was only 3-4 people which doesn't really bring the cost down as much.

Man Treesuit, that really sucks! I would have thought this to be THE place for ration group buys all things considered. Thats really unfortunate.

Well like I mentioned before there were some really great group buys in the past like Menu C MRE's or real genuine cases of MRE's. Or even Mountain House had a great deal on #10 cans of storage food for example. We would post it here but it seemed like 2-4 people could only afford it. Now with things being as they are with the economy an such people are really cutting back there spending habits.

I wouldn't get discouraged. If you do some reaserch and maybe run some numbers on a great sale you think it would be beneficial to us here on the forum: why not post it and see what kind of response you'll get. I mean, it has been quite awhile since we heard one.

Hello everyone,

I would be interested in a group buy too. I am new to the site, as a poster, but have used the site for years for info.
