Introduction and Request

Hello, my name is Don and I served in the US Army from 1984 to 1994 and I'm working on some display ideas for my office. I have enough of the old 1981 and 1986 era MREs for my 7th ID display. I'm now looking for one or a couple of the first run "Ration, Cold Weather" RCWs for my 1989 circa Arctic Airborne display.

I ate my share of MREs and if you would have told me twenty five years ago that I'd be paying money for MREs, I would have laughed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Post an intro here also
- I was Active AF Medic 1970/74 - was fed AF Inflight Rations during my Medic Field training. Was fed Army C Rations while detached to them during a 1971 TDY. Preferred the AF Inflights due mainly to no Ham and Limas (I know the field name - just not using it here).
What I remember of the Inflights was that the turkey loaf tasted like tuna to me and I almost always got a bread pudding instead of a pound cake.

- Was Army National Guard 1985-1987 - was fed first generation MRE menus - after a GI episode where my squad leader asked me if I had colon cancer - the squad made sure I never had to eat the Freeze Dried Pork Pattys ever again. (basically turned the air green and most of the squad put their gas masks on)

I very much liked the freeze dried fruit - especially the peaches.

- Have eaten from each MRE menu generation since.

Found this forum when researching the First Strike Rations.

This is my first post and other than searching for and finding a post that said Introduction - haven't read/searched the forum.

The EpiCenter has some of the FSR components for sale.

Another site that has "rations" for sale is Repo-Rations http://reprorations.com/index.htm
He also lists the component parts like MRE-Info does.
