Saw this tonight and just had to ask if it is real or not or if it's a standard MCI case.

Yep thats real all right.
You see exactly the same outer box and printing when you go to the NATICK 1950 rations booklet, under the Ration, Combat Individual page.
I cant post the pics but its the outer sleeve box for the component box. Its the C4 or C5 "Ration Combat Individual" which was just another name for the C4 series on until the MCI in 1958-9 which is really a C rat rebranded.
The contents look a disaster though, and where are all the cans? I think the seller is saying that he has given some items away and has the equivalent of 2 complete units?

Re: original-shoebox-ration-korean-war on ebay
Sounds really fishy to me:
... with other items i collected over the years was able to reconstruct 2 complete meals
The whole thing is run together like the seller is a teenager or something and doesn't know how to construct a sentence. Is it an actual unopened box or is it partial? He says he'll sell bits later that will "help you complete yours" which to me indicates he partially cannibalized what he's selling. Pictures show some major decay and the crate is not included so overall I would steer clear of this myself (as I have so far, this is the third or fourth time he's relisted the item at the same price - if it started at 99 cents or something I might bid on it and just take the risk but 99 dollars?).you will get one unopened box i did not pick through all just took 2 off the top

RULERYAK,
Yeah, I have to agree with you on that. I'm not even considering bidding on it just because it's so overproced for even a cardboard box and a sleeve. If it were maybe 5.00 dollars I'd consider buying it. I also steered clear of the contents. From the description it sounds like he either is going to sell you the worst of the contents and sell the best stuff off or vice versa. Either way I'm not taking an chance nor parting with that kind of money.
