I typically prefer to buy long-term storage MRE's by the case, leaving them untouched for a rainy day.
But I also buy individual MRE's, as well as entrees, sides and accesorries for our family's frequent camping trips.
I came across a seller who sells MRE's in batches of 6 for a fixed price of $19.99 plus $12.36 for shipping. This works out to $32.35, or $5.39 per MRE.
However, this seller combines shipping so I decided to take the plunge and see what kind of deal I would end up getting.
I bought two lots of 6 MRE's for a total of 12. The final cost was $56.70, including combined shipping. That''s $19.99 (times 2), plus $16.72 combined shipping.
That works out to $4.72 per MRE which I think is a good deal. I have done this deal numerous times since, and have been completely satisfied easch time.
The MRE's are shipped in a standard MRE case box.
Is it possible to buy MRE's on Ebay for less? Absolutely, but it won't be for much less and this was an easy "no hassle" way for me to pick some up.
I have purchased full cases for slightly less, but I like that I can mix and match the MRE's a bit, instead of just buying a "Case A" or "Case B".
I realize that the shipping cost will vary, depending upon the buyer's location. FYI, the seller is in Louisiana.
BTW, every MRE I have received has had an '08 production date ('11 Inspection Date). They should really advertize this fact, but I don't think they do.
They seem to have numerous "6 pack" deals going all the time. Be sure to check out each of the different ads, beacuse each batch contains different MRE's.
