Group Buy MRE/ MCW/BACON: FREE SHIP (all done)

MREDepot is going to hold a a big group buy at Warrifles.com, I think it starts this wekendd but right now not set in stone how long it will run, probably a couple of weeks but maybe as short as a week

You need to be a site contributor there to participate in the group buy, I think they have membership levels at around 20 bucks - which you could easily save on shipping for one case of MREs.

They have some stuff like CANNED BACON and bega cheese , but I figure the folks here are most interested in:

Item 4 - Case of U.S. Government Issue MRE’s (Meals Ready to Eat). Menu’s A & B, Manufacture Date of 2004, Inspection Date of 2007, 12 meals per case. $45.00 Delivered (Free Shipping)!

These are unopened, formerly government owned, military issue MRE’s. These are authentic - they are the real deal. We have 960 of them in stock, but we may have to limit it to the first 200 cases, as I have some dealers who really need inventory now that Mountain House has stopped delivering. They have been cold stored by the government until we picked them up when they rotated them out earlier this month.

Item 5 - Case of USGI, Brand New, MRE Peanut Butter Packs. 300 Packs per case, 1.5 oz per pack. $95.00/case Delivered (Free Shipping) - that less than $0.32/pack!

We just picked up 104,000 packs last week - these are 2008, made in late May of this year, so extremely fresh. Realistically, these will have a 15+ year shelf life, and likely a LOT longer if keep them cool. Perfect for keeping in your car, boat, glove box or bug-out bag. These are even great for every day use at the office, on the trail or in the field.

Item 7 - Case of USGI, Cold Weather MRE’s (MCW - Meal, Cold Weather). EXTREMELY RARE! Sealed case of 12 meals, $95 delivered (Free Shipping)!

These MCW’s are very hard to find. They are priced because they are much higher in calories (1500 to 1800 calories per meal) in order to fuel a combat soldier in a harsh cold-weather environment, and last 30+ years because the main course entrée’s are freeze dried. We only can make 75 cases available to this GB, so it will be first come, first served. These regular sell at auction on eBay for an average of $105 to $145 per case PLUS shipping.

Sounds like an interesting Group Buy. The MREs for $45 and free shipping is a pretty good deal - especially if they were cold stored.

The only thing I'm not thrilled about is how they require you to purchase a membership to participate in these group buys. But like you said, $20 isn't all that much if you're saving that much or more on shipping costs.

I agree with you on the membership part. So really the total price of the MRE case with shipping is 65 bucks...which is still a reasonable price.

I also use Kmans advice for prices on MRE's. He said he usually likes to buy cases ranging from 50-65 dollars and I follow that usually to the dollar. Sometimes a few bucks more.

But if you're buying 6 cases of MREs, that's just $270 + $20 membership, or $48 per case. But at least these are completely "legal" and you don't have to worry about being scammed by an eBay seller or having Army CID knocking on your door asking you about that auction you won.

I have to say, as much as I don't like the idea of membership fees, I can't really blame the owner for it. You can find his explanation here:

It seems to be a pretty busy forums and must require a lot of resources to operate (dedicated server). And when the advertising and contributions don't cover the operating costs, he has to pay for the difference out of his own pocket.

What happened the last group buy is some folks promised to become supporters and then never followed through on payment. He may let you join during but no guarantee.

I am probably gonna do at least a case of the chicken and cheese and 2 cases of MREs, and maybe the Peanut Butter, so 15 bucks is a bargain there.

Also they generally have group buys over there once every month or so and the fee covers for the year. I missed out on the last one, canned bread, butter, and meat.


The next one will probably be along the lines of Canned bacon, butter, and maybe dehydrated pork chops.

Again, the MCW uses freeze dried entree components that cost more than the retort entree component in a MRE. If you're interested in assembling your own version of a RCW or MCW/LRP, you're in luck, most of the components are available commercially on the retail market. As a matter of fact, if you take a look at many of the components of a RCW, (I think someone had made a post with pictures, maybe Norge?) you can see that many of the components are indeed commercially available items that can be found in retail stores.
