Just got out from a long hospitalization with a mind bending balance on my account, but finally decide to try a short review on some fairly difficult to obtain rations. Today I will be trying out two sets of compressed rations. Skip this to the pictures if you want the downlow, or skip to the bottom if you want to buy, but here’s the background. My mother went through the Cultural Revolution where instead of schooling, all were mandated to do physical work in the rice paddies or fields. There was never enough to eat, and even though the fields seemed to be reaping crops, the countryside laborers were not getting proper nutrients.
Taste: Very much a crumbly lightly sweetened block. With some chewing and moistening, it turns into something resembling a sweet (with depth) oatmeal almost. Way way better than I thought it would be. 6.5/10.

) I’d say it tastes like a cross between crushed graham crackers, sweet evaporated milk, and some crushed nuts like cashews or macadamias or almonds. Delicious!! And they have proteins and fat for the long haul!
