i am looking for one or two ham slices in the dark brown bag. i know that sounds crazy. i loved this meal while in the marines, and i would like to eat one and keep one as a nostalgic item. anyone have any? if so let me know your price. thanks.

Maybe not as crazy as you think. While I don't think it's crazy, some may find it a little odd, but I get cravings for SOS on occasion (but no flashbacks fortunately

.) Of course, for you young guys it's probably a delicacy nowadays from days past.

I remember the first time that I saw it in the public cafeteria on an open base. The first thought that came to my mind was "People actually pay money for that?" That was when I found out that it was no longer a regular menu item in the mess. One of my co-workers said "Hell, that's a delicacy now!"
My wife loves SOS when I make it. We minimize the impact of ingesting too much cholesterol over time by having a double portion each time I make it. ... which reminds me ... I ran across some old jars of chipped beef around here someplace the other day ... I don't think that stuff can go bad, even if you tried

SOS..
That's some great eatings there..
Come to think of it I think I have a couple tray rations of that..
I should break it out and chow down again..
I haven't had it in a while..
It's been stored in a cool dark place..

sos was the one breakfast item that was passed over most in my years of eating at the mess hall. not by me though i loved it. but i can eat about anything. i recently took my father and son to beaufort sc. we went on base at the marine corps air station went to the messhall and had breakfast. that was a good experience and of course i had me some sos. so did my dad and he liked it as well. my son was not so much though.
sos=?

SOS is a traditional food served in the US military, Chipped Beef on toast...
The G.I's call it 'shit on a Shingle', hence SOS !
When made properly, it's really good
I always mixed in a few hard boiled eggs to make it even better !!!
