Beware of rationcollector19, Matthew Morgan from Virginia.
We made arrangements to do a trade for my two international rations + $50 of locally made treats for 3 of his international rations. After working out the details (he wanted to ship fed ex, so I said I'd ship ups) & exchanging mailing info, I put together my box to send to him and dropped it off at the ups store. I messaged him to let him know i sent my box to him and gave him the tracking number. He messages back and says because of a death in the family he won't be able to send his box out till the next week. Having compassion, I say 'no problem'. I check back with him the next week and he says he hasn't had a chance to send the box out yet, but he did receive mines and liked everything I sent him!! I message several days later and he finally says he mailed it out...and says 'I hope you gave me the correct mailing address'. That was my first hint that something was wrong. Why would you ask that? It's my address!! Of course I gave you the correct address!! Anyway, I waited about a week. Nothing came. Then I message him and asked if he can give me the tracking number. He messages back saying to wait a few more days. Well, those days came and went and still nothing arrives. So I message again asking for the tracking number...he messages back and says he needs to go through his stuff to look for the piece of paper he wrote the tracking number down on and if not he'd go to the post office to check on it. Then the light went on...instantly I knew he never sent anything. First of all, he said he'd ship via fed ex, but now he says post office. Secondly, us postal service, fed ex, ups, etc...they all print your tracking number on your receipt. No writing necessary. Third, what was he gonna get accomplished by going 'back' to the post office? He has no tracking number!!!
After repeatedly asking him to 'look' for the tracking number, he stopped responding to any communication from me.
My last message to him was asking for him to please reimburse me the money it took to purchase and send everything to him. This whole ordeal costed me $150! Two international rations w/original shipping costs to me, $50 of assorted locally made treats and $50 ups shipping! He hasn't responded yet.
Watch this guy, he's smooth. I learned a huge lesson...don't trust smooth talking strangers. Whats so sad is I just previously had a great exchange with another mreinfo.com member right before this douche bag! I probably won't do anymore exchanges because I can't take the chance of losing another $150!!

I´m sorry for that rip off. This also happened to me - once.

I can´t find a member "rationcollector19" in this forum?

You have his address, file a charge against him for fraud. That´s what I did back this days.

I talked to Rationcollector19 before about possibly doing a trade... thank god i didn't! I told ruleryak on the phone i thought the dude was full of crap - he was leading yak on with civil war hardtack. I said the guy had/knew nothing.

I only deal with people who do reviews on this site and i know for certain they have the passion for the ration.

As for you daku, i an really sorry you got ripped off - the guy deleted his account.

Pm me your address i will send you something cool, brother.

The user's gone - deleted his account so now you just get the "does not exist" message. He signed up, PMed me a few times and we were potentially looking at a trade. Thankfully I was dragging my feet and hadn't taken the time to get an updated trade-fodder list together for him.

I don't know if he's necessarily a bad egg though. He sent me ebay links to items I've mentioned I've been looking for, one of which I ended up buying so it wasn't all bad. Shame it went bad for you Dakujakuj001. Next time you're thinking about a trade with someone on here just check this feedback thread for that person's name and see what we have to say about them. If there's nothing, I think you'd be smart to say no thanks until someone else posts some positive feedback about them. Here's my google search for feedback checks:

site:mreinfo.com inurl:forums intitle:feedback ruleryak

Just copy that as-is into google's search and replace ruleryak with whichever username you're looking into to see instances in this thread where their name is mentioned

Sorry to hear about that dakujaku, these scammers take any opportunity to screw anyone. I've been screwed a couple of times, nothing to do with rations but of things I sell on craigslist where 9/10 times you'll get an email from a scammer.

Also housil wouldn't filing charges be hard? The only reason I ask this is because about these scammers, pretty much nothing is true. Their name, address, state, etc. For instance, I was able to get the number of one person who screwed me out of a bookcase and the guy didn't know anything about it. The weird thing is that the scammer used the name of the person who lived in the house I shipped it too. Like I said earlier these scammers will go to extreme lengths to screw people,no matter the harm it may cost.

The good thing about some boards like this, and other forum formats like PHPBB, is that the mods and controller actually have access to the IP address you are logging on with. So if a case becomes interesting (i.e. illegal activity..), they can at their discretion (or via court order) provide the IP number to the appropriate authorities.

The IP logging capability was built into most boards for spam tracking and troll blocking, but it does have other fringe benefits... ;)

Now as to whether this board has that capability, I do not know. To find that out you would have to ask a Mod.

I wish craigslist had something like what your talking about elandil. Unfortunately I'm not very good with technical stuff. If I were dakujaku I wouldn't want to deal with all the hassle of state to state charges. I know it sucks to get screwed but karma will get him soon enough. That's just my opinion though
