Re: MRE Symposium and Meetup
I was thinking we could show the items for auction in the beginning of the symposium at 9 AM. Or, if you are there the whole weekend, we could show them the day before. During the auction, they could either call in (which could get frustrating) or we could have a "Charity Auction" thread going here. People put which item number they want and what their bid is. If we do that, we don't do a "max bid" we do it in real time with someone monitoring the thread.Name_not_found wrote:There are a few options im looking in to, i have or have access to most of what we should need.

Just some thoughts. Never done this before, so open to ideas. Since the proceeds will go to Ruleryaks Museum, maybe he could be the monitor of the thread. What are your thoughts?

Re: MRE Symposium and Meetup
I'm not exactly sure how I missed this post - just caught up with all of it now and am just amazed.
BlackDogBob, I first want to thank you for this incredible energy and enthusiasm you are injecting into the community with this - absolutely fantastic and it's inspiring!
Count me in for October - I am putting it on my schedule and am going to bring a few Raions along to share. Not exactly how much i could teach someone about Rations - maybe a lot - maybe not so much. It seems like the more I learn, the more I realize how much there really is to all of this. But I would take a jab at it nonetheless. I suppose I could teach some folks about this whole thing.
October 22nd and 23rd - I am putting it on the calendar now and will have to check into some air fare and get a ticket a little bit ahead of time to reduce costs there. I'm really hoping a few of the other guys here can make it too - nothing better than meeting your MREinfo buddies in person and talking Rations - trust me it's inspiring to say the least.
Thanks so much Bob for putting all this together - and as for a fundraiser for The Military Ration Museum - I am thinking of some ways I can help with that too - I do have a couple things I could put up on auction that may pull in some $ for it.
This is very exciting - the progression of the MRE community, the documentation & sharing of knowledge, and relocating of the rare ones sure has been picking up and this certainly adds to that notion in a big way.

Steve, that's awesome that you put it on the schedule. And thanks for helping with the auction, that's fantastic! Is there any way you could put a video out about it? That would really help get some interest going.
I appreciate it brother. Love your reviews!

Ok, It's confirmed, I will be there! The Mrs. is actually pretty excited because her family lives not too far from there, so we'll go a few days early so we can work in a quick family visit while we're on the east coast. I'm looking forward to finally meeting many of you face-to-face!

Housil, if you are able to come, could you teach a class on somebody the European rations? Say, 20 minute class with 10 minute Q and A?housil wrote:Wow - so it´s a must-come for us too...parafireboy wrote:Ok, It's confirmed, I will be there!
