Maybe California will ban the sale of "hi-cap" MRE cases - so you won't be able to buy cases with 12 MREs per case...only 10. :-)

I just got a 12-pack MRE's for 42 Euros (~50$) over here. But there are several other offers on smaller packs with fair prizes and other stuff (german EPA, Dutch Rations, British Stuff) . Dunno the shipping fees to US, but the surely will be >50$ as well. So this perhaps won't help you.
Living on earth is expensive, but it includes a free trip around the sun every year...
