Well here at Elmendorf AFB, AK i see cases and cases for sale over at the comissary. I get a case and a half about 2-3 times a year because im on meal card. And during training exercises we arent allowed to eat at the chow hall so we get MRE's free. But to get on base and shop at the BX/PX you need a sponsor. Someone that can "smuggle" you on base and make purchases for you lol. I suggest you make some military friends quick. Listen in to when they are going into training exercises and have them look out for some MRE's for sale.

Always with the great advice. Thanks.. I do need to make some military friends or sponsors LOL as you call them.

Well, I'm glad that I didn't go through with the plan to go up to the guard and ask if I could shop at the PX. I really don't like too many lead injections from m-16's LOL.

Since you're in the U.S., I'd guess the short answer is that PX/BX privileges on military bases are for the most part generally restricted to members of the US branches of the military and their dependents, and retired members of the military, with very few exceptions. At US military installations outside of the U.S., PX/BX privileges are also generally extended to many civilian employees of the U.S. Government who are deployed PCS or TDY in those countries; one example would be employees of the State Deparment and Dept. of Commerce who are stationed at US missions (Embassies.)

Unless you're inclined to believe stuff that you may read on web sites that promote paranoia, I wouldn't worry about being caught in a spray of bullets from a base sentry, but rather being told in a very polite manner that access to the base is limited to employees if it is a closed base, and shopping privileges are limited to those who qualify for shopping privileges.

Hey MCIera,

I was just joking around with the "lead injections":-) I actuallly spent a good part of my life spending just about 5 out of 7 days a week at a military base in South Jersey. The paintball team that I was on (Arsenal A-Team) was playing at a paintball field named Dell Hobbies and they were actually located in the military base. I think it was also a base for reserves so we had to only go through stop and checks maybe only about 30% of the time. And I remember the military guys always being pretty cool with us and hooking me up with MRE's...that's how my MRE addiction started, the first ones free but, they make you pay for the rest those bastards LOL. Anyway my point being well lost awhile ago.....I was just trying to be funny and no, I'm not afraid of our military guys punching .223 sized holes through me for asking a stupid question...thank you LOL

Simple. Without Military, Retired, certain disabled vets with I.D. 8), you probably are'nt getting on base. You might be signed in as a guest by someone, but you're not buying anything yourself, anywhere. You could get someone authorized, to buy you some socks at the MCSS. I have seen Individual MRE's in Commisaries before, at Riley, Lee. Sill. Gov't price. Was like 4.17 or something. This was back between '86 and '90. 8)

Getting on base and getting all the MREs you want is really easy...I have a one step process that if you follow it precisely, will guarantee results:

1. Enlist.

There! See...it's simple. :-)

Yes it is simple and that was my game plan since 1995 when I was a freshman in High School. I actually started a mini-BUDS program with one of my older family friends who actually joined the Navy and became a SEAL. His name was also Mike. He knew of my interest of becoming a special forces operator for the Marines so he wanted to convince me that the SEALs would be a better fit for me. I trained with Mike, off and on because of his schedule, till 2001 when...well you guys know... Anyway so after 9/11, I had the unrelenting feeling of having to fight the people responsible for attacking my country especially when it was so close to home. I went and saw another friend of mine on September 12th, in the Navy SGT David Branch he's a recruitment officer, and I signed up for the navy and passed all the math and reading comprehension tests with flying colors. David knew that I wanted and was physically fit enough to go through BUDS training and become a SEAL as soon as possible so later that afternoon with we drove Maryland to see a personal friend of Davids, the doctor.
This is where everything went wrong........Well, I played soccer at a very high level when I was in high school and I was recruited by a few colleges and looked at by some very prestigious coaches until one game where I popped my shoulder out....then all the recruiters and coaches and "friends" started to go away, the point is that I thought OH well so, I can't play professional soccer like I wanted to and I can't get a free ride through college anymore...boo hoo LOL So, I had surgery on my arm to repair the damages and went through rehab and I thought everything was going to be okay till the day I was standing in front of a doctor and David in the military hospital, half naked in my boxers, trying to convince the doctor that my shoulders we're not a problem. Even after 100 push-ups in a row and after god-knows how many pull-ups...the doctor declared me medically unfit for duty due to dislocating shoulders.

So, yeah if that one simple penalty kick didn't pop my shoulder out, I would be somewhere in the world fighting for my country and eating all the MRE's that I wanted.

So long story short...I can't join the military...they won't let me not even the Air Force LOL...JUST JOKING YOU AIR FORCE GUYS

Well darn, Mkim340518. It sounds like my plan does have a flaw after all. Sorry to hear you didn't get in but I have to give you credit for going the extra mile to get yourself prepared. For lack of a old shoulder injury, it sounds like you would have made a fine addition to our Armed Forces.
