mredirect.us selling real MREs
One of the new members to the forums pointed me to this new website that is selling genuine military MREs:
http://www.mredirect.us/
This website is run by the same people who run http://www.dehydrated-food.net/ and http://www.se1.us/ (Survival Enterprises). I was a little skeptical at first since you don't see too many places, especially for-real businesses, outside of eBay selling real military MREs. But I asked them if they could post some pictures of the actual cases they were selling and they obliged - the pictures are now on their website and they look like the real thing.
They're asking $70/case + shipping from Idaho. That's a little steep for me, but if anyone else is interested in getting some MREs and you don't want to roll the dice with eBay, you might want to check out these guys.
I haven't bought any of these MREs from them so I can't make any comments about the company or products - I'm just passing along a link and some info.
Jan. 8, 2007 Update: Please see this post: viewtopic.php?p=10391#10391 for a summary of what we found. Short version - the 2006 MREs for sale are the real military thing. The 2007 MREs are the "Menu C" MRes.

Hi everyone, and thanks for the post on our MRE's.
Yep, they're the "real deal". The 2006 MRE's are $70 a case and the 2007 (they'll be ready any day now) woll be $75 a case.
If you want authentic, LEGALLY OBTAINED, fresh MRE's, then we're pretty much the only game in town.
Check us out at http://www.mredirect.us
Also, you can go to http://www.armchairsurvivalist.com and listen in to my radio show on Saturdays: "The Armchair Survivalist".

Are you going to have "B" cases from 2007 also? I just see the "A" menu.
I've always thought it was funny that on the "preparedness" websites I visit, survivalist is a four letter word. I think it's pretty darn close to the same thing, being prepared for an eventuality says you think you might have to be a survivalist at some point IMHO, but YMMV.
And survival.com sucks, Ron might be a good guy, but he has some fascist mods. I'm pretty sure I'm banned, I haven't checked yet though, don't know if I'm going to bother to or not. Equipped.org is the bomb shizzle though, highly recommended, the guys over there are great. If you're into that kind of thing.
I'll review the radio show and let you guys know what I think, but I'm not very conservative, so it might rub me wrong before I give it a chance, but if politics/religion are left out and it's informative, we'll see.

Uhm, yeah, so what kind of shipping is it that ya'll offer? Because the price I'm getting for shipping equates to 2 day air from UPS from Maine to Texas.. you might want to adjust that, I'm not going to pay more for my package to be shipped than I pay for whats in the package, I just refuse to do that.
3 pounds shipped for $22... really? It's $6 rounded up to ship it via ground.. well, now I've added something else and it looks like it sort of stays at $22, but uhm.. I still think thats a little high, but it's not my business. YMMV.

Here's the easy way to figure foreign shipping on anything. All you have to know is the weight of the package (MRE's weigh 20 pounds per case).
http://ircalc.usps.gov/
Of course, if you buy 40 plus cases, it's cheaper to ship on a pallet via a freight company when going both Internationally and within the US.
Within the US I generally use UPS for shipping so it'd be one hell-of-a-lot cheaper! Worse case cost (one case from the top of Idaho to the bottom tip of Florida) would be $23. Proportionatly, the shipping cost goes down the more you order.

One other thing about our (Survival Enterprises) shipping costs:
If you use any of our online shopping cart systems and ordering buttons, you will generally get over-charged for shipping. What we do in-house, when we actually fill the order, is to weigh the package and refund you the difference between the actual cost and what you paid for shipping.
It's a lot of work for us, but it's a lot more fair then flat-rate rip off shipping most companies charge.

It says here that shipping is 37$ for Priority Mail® Flat Rate Box to the Netherlands.
If the dollar would drop some more, getting mre's from the US would actually become beneficial.

The flat rate $37 box (sent to EU) can be any weight, but it is a certain size, supplied by the US Post Office. I don't know the exact dimensions, but it is only big enough to fit 3 complete MREs and a few loose snacks, Or 16 loose entrees. That's how I got my first (expensive) MREs before being lucky enough to find this site.
Okay, if that's the case, you'll get my order tonight, since I've looked up the shipping, I have a real good idea of what it'll be, so I'll let everyone know as before. It just didn't make sense for 3 pounds@ $22.. you should scale it back a little, because when I saw that before your clarification, I wasn't going to buy. I understand running a business is difficult, man I'm glad I work for a company instead of myself (well, sort of, but too long and boring a story for here).OddBall wrote:One other thing about our (Survival Enterprises) shipping costs:
