Sopako lies....

Post by Kays1968 » Thu Feb 27, 2020 11:08 am

Just a heads-up for everyone ordering the $35 Sopako cases off of MRE Marketplace. They are advertised as 14 meals to the case, inspection date 2016 or later. I received a case yesterday, there are only 12 meals, and the production dates on the items are early 2011. Pack date on the case is 1210, which, allowing for the standard 3-year inspection date, would make it mid-2014.

Just putting this out there in the interest of full disclosure....

If you got a 12 pack that means you got the regular menus and not the inferior Low Sodium. They also usually include more items. As far as dates, they are just a number. Now if it was a 12 pack of low sodium I would be mad. YMMV

Did you complain at Sopakco or the seller https://www.mremarketplace.com/contact/ or is this just to blame them in public?

the 12 pack is a win, the 14 pack low sodium meals/cases are not as complete, and dont taste as good

however, the production date is another matter

They are the low sodium meals. That didn't bother me as much, because the information clearly stated that the box you receive would be random, either low sodium or standard. I usually add stuff to most mains anyway. For the price, I took that chance....at least I was informed. It does bother me, though, when an item is misrepresented. Anyway, I just wanted to pass along the information for anyone who might be thinking of buying a box, so that they are able to make their own informed decision.

Housil, I did send an e-mail. My intention was not to blame anyone, only to let others know what problems they might encounter if they are considering a similar purchase. The price point is excellent, and makes for an attractive offer, but only if the buyer is able to correctly weigh the cost and benefits.

For the record, I received a timely and positive response from the seller. They definitely get points for excellent communication and customer service. What hasn't changed, though, is that....
a) Sopako is short packing cases, so if you order, you might get less than expected and.....
b) The seller is sending out product that is significantly older than described

I apologize if my original post offended. I recognize that the the word "lies" could be a trigger, and I should perhaps have captioned my post differently. I still feel, however, that people have the right to be informed....

This belongs in the buy/sell feedback thread...

But yeah, that ad really needs to be cleaned up a bit. And the item title says "2016 or newer" but the description says "2015 or newer".

The seller is responsible for his add, not the manufacturer.

I would complain at the seller and ask either a case as written on the add or a refund.
