Good feedback (100%), and a member since 2005.... Id say the seller is good, but isnt positive on its authenticity... Just my 2 cents from the description...

I agree - the box has not one bit of wax left on it - and those boxes were wax dipped. Now the early ones were foil wrapped and even some paper wrapped. But every box I've seen was wax dipped. This one is likely a reproduction. But I could be wrong.

I did a little digging and found this website. I'm certainly not an expert, and cannot say if this information is accurate, but this site does allude to the distinction between the wax boxes and foil wrapped ones:

http://yankreenactment.nl/rations/d-ration.html

Take a look at the"packaging" heading.

That is a good source on D Ration info there, thanks for sharing it!

I would say this box being sold is still a little iffy. No wax on it - and all the ones those yankereenactment pics showed either early foil wrapped ones or wax coated boxes.
With that being said either the one being sold is in poor shape and the wax somehow came off the box, it's an unusual one where it was never wax coated, or an aged repro. I would bet money it's a repro.

Wish there were someone here who knew for sure. Only other way to know is by paying $102 + for it and opening the thing. Even then it's not a sure thing.

Yep, you're right... Looks like the early versions were wrapped in paper and foil, never in boxes (i misunderstood when I read it), so it stands to reason it should be wax coated... maybe Ill bug the seller and see where they found it...
