I will try them at some point. Could be years from now though, not sure when.

Maybe I should have bought both. 1 to save 1 to eat

This guy is selling "old stock" mres and I think they're from 1989.
He says he's got 14 cases I believe. I'm buying one next week if he still has any I got his listing on my watchlist.

I'm just a little curious on his sale. Those cases he's got are the older square ones from 1996 to present. If he's selling supposed 1989 MRE's then they would be in the long rectangular ones. I'm not sure what he's got there?

Yeah, your right they aren't that old I forgot about the case shape changes from 89' to present.

Too bad - I'm mainly wanting older mre's like that because I want those freeze dried fruit squares- along with other things you can't get in the new ones. I never reconstitute them I just eat em' like a bar.

Hey Treesuit maybe you would know.. what do those Freeze Dried MRE fruit squares go for nowadays? Oh yeah and those cookies, chocolate covered... I just ate one from 1993 a little over a week ago and it was still great... man I wish they still had those in the menus.

By the way - what year do you think these are? They kinda look like either the last of the dark packs or an early-early one.

Steve,

I looked at the photo and had it enlarged from what I can tell from the production code of the side it looks like 2007.

Also if you go check around to some Army-Surplus stores you might find older MRE's or the parts to some. I can sometimes find parts around here, where I live, or when I go home to Eastern WA and find some at two surplus stores there for a few cents or a dollar. A lot of them are in good shape. I have been finding a lot of A packets from those early MRE's, not too much on the way of fruit or cookies.

Hey thankyou for checking that Case Date out for me Treesuit. I went to my local Army & Navy's and both are awful when it comes to finding actual military MRE's of any kind.
If you ever run into those Freeze Dried Fruit squares, or really any old-school desserts let me know!

Sorry :) , but I guess that 14 cases are packed between 1997 and 2000, I think that because :) :

• There is a contract-number SPO300-97-D-Z101 (cases from 2007 have e. g. contract-numbers SPM3S1-06-D-Z104)
• The cases still have the outer sleeves which were rejected in the year 2000
