Thanks Treesuit & Scottymonger for the great advice.
I sent a message to the girlfriend asking her to full-fill his promises within 7 days or I will open a case with ebay.
Let's see what comes of it.

Update.
I did ask the girlfriend to full-fill Josh's promises.
Her response:
Hi, I have no access to the MRE's that he is selling or a method of transferring money because it is all from his personal accounts. Also, he does not have phone service so the only time I spoke with him was last Wednesday before he left and am not expecting to hear from him again until the 20th. I'm sure he will fulfill whatever promises he previously made to you but there isn't much that I personally can do for you. I'll stay in touch. Thanks

So, being the trusting person I am;not wanting to cause trouble for anyone.............I waited patiently.
I did not open a case though I said I would.(Thought I would look foolish if in the end he paid me on his return)
I did not leave negative feedback-again for the same reason above (though I started to do it yesterday but cancelled hoping he would reply today)

Have sent Josh messages on the 20th, 21st and again today.
Of course no reply........no money.
The worst part of all this is that I no longer can even leave feedback or open a case against him.

You all tried to tell me....to leave negative feedback....to open a case. I tried to be trusting even though my instincts told me otherwise.

Clearly a good lesson learned.........only buy from trusted ,honourable sellers.........like Treesuit.....that man is amazing........and....always listen to my inner voice!

Sorry to hear it ended like that calixtesaint. It's unfortunate that douche-bags like that ruin the whole ebay experience. It sucks, but now you know better. Chalk it up as a loss...no sense in stewing over it.

Thanks Jpak-yes I did learn a lesson!!

Update:
Suddenly the items showed up today in my won section....so I did leave negative feedback for all 7 lots.
And I do not feel guilty either- he promised to pay on April 20th and did not- I sent him 3 emails-on the 20th,21st,22nd..never got a reply....so it was reasonable , I think, to leave the negative feedback. (Though I did feel uncomfortable doing it!!)

Cali,

Ho Boy what an ordeal for a first time buyer. Well, can't say we've all been there before. Your right you gave this shumck the benefit of the doubt and he dropped the ball. Glad you left negative feedback for this guy. Don't feel bad for doing it, not at all! Just next time go slowly and carefully and might want to ask questions before a buy on ebay. Can't hurt.
