My Menu Cs Have Finally Arrived!

Post by Canuck67 » Wed Feb 20, 2008 3:39 pm

Well, I finally received my Menu Cs today and they arrived in good condition. At first, I thought they might be frozen since the box was quite cold (it was -5C this morning, whch works out to 23F) but they were all OK. For my first taste test, I tried Menu #9, "Beef Enchiladas", for lunch. The enchiladas were very tasty with just the right amount of spice, although the beef filling seemed a bit dry. I only tried a couple of drops of the Picante Sauce, since I didn' t want to risk major heartburn! The crackers were really good, especially with the strawberry jam spread. The cinnamon scone was another pleasant surprise: it's texture and consistency were akin to a hot biscuit. The Caramel Apple Ranger Bar was a bit of a disappointment, though. It was dry and crumbly and was more like a cookie than a bar. I couldn't really taste the apple or the caramel since both were overwhelmed by the cinnamon flavoring. As a side note, this particular meal came with Accessory Pack B instead of "A", as listed on the official Menu C listing. I'm thinking they may have run out of either the coffee packets or the "A" packets , since I checked a couple of other meals which were supposed to contain the "A" packets but they also had the "B" packet instead. I forgot to mention that I also tried the gum and although I was expecting a mint flavored gum, it turned out to be cinnamon instead (Bleeah! I hate cinnamon candies, gum, etc.). This got me to thinking: whoever was responsible for the specs on this menu must really, and I mean REALLY, love cinnamon!!

If anyone would like me to post some pics of this meal, please let me know.

There are a couple of pics missing from the "Chicken With Dumplings: Meal: the oatmeal cookies ( I ate them before I thought of taking a picture) and the pack of Skittles candy (also eaten :D ). I should mention the Chicken and dumplings entree was delicious! Yum! Although I couldn't identify the seasoning they used....it had a flavor I was unfamiliar with.

Nice set of pics. I just had one of the Caramel Apple Ranger bars last night, too. They're definitely pretty dry and crumbly - but not too bad other than that.

Yeah, the menu C first run didn't really seem to have static components from what I can tell from mine. I'm very happy with them, and I need to look up who wrote this, but someone found something like BBQ sauce with their dumplings or spaghetti, so you get the idea. I think there are probably a big group of boxes on an assembly line marked 1 per unit or something, and when a new rat comes by, they pick randomly from the boxes and stick whatever in there.. ie you'll never get cheese and peanut butter in the same meal.
