That was a pretty interesting comparison. I would personally have to go with that light weight one over the heavy Swedish mess kit.
All that weight really adds up on long hikes! I'm down here in Florida where it can get so insanely hot during the summer. Humidity makes for more amplified conditions in our Summers/Winters. It can really take the energy outta ya if you aren't used to it!
So with that being said, weight makes all the difference.

I think I'm going to pick up one of those lighter weight (1 lb) German Mess Kits after watching this!

Good Vid and THX

I use both kits a great deal. This is the bottom line for me. The Swede set is a little bit larger and weighs more. But the windscreen is invaluable if you have wind. The German set with the Esbit travels better and can do the job.
I combine them sometimes

The Swede better for Canoe or Jeep
The German better for the rucksack

If you want something light and durable then try a Crusader canteen kit. You can boil water and cook at the same time using their small but useful cooker.
I have one and with the little cooker you can boil water and If you have a small pot or pan you can cook sausages, small cuts of meat and even make stews. Is very versatile and doesn't weight much.

You can use any type of fuel with this little stove.
