Forum suggestion: Reputation system

So I thought it would be cool to have a reputation system  I have seen them mainly in tech forums and similar, where you have a ''thank you'' button for when someone gives you info about something or trades with you, and there is a counter in the profile. It shows how helpful you are inside the community, so I thought it could be cool to have one here too, on some forums I have seen that you can even assign a rank! usually ranks just a funny thing and don't mean much but it could be a nice addition to the forums if people like it!

We could rank people based on how many ''thanks'' or thumbs up they have received and assign a rank based on the utility of things in rations:
Suggested ranks for example (from lower to higher)
-Bag of peanuts
-Mess kit
-Freeze dried Entree
-MRE
-24h ration
-10-man ration pack
-F.R.E.D.

All suggestions and criticism is welcome!

I like this idea. For me there are two different reputation types as a content creator (valuable info) and as a seller/buyer/trader. Some people here don't create content, but sell/trade and vice versa.

i have seen both types implemented in tech forums (is the other type of forums I watch frequently...) with a thumbs up button next to a post and with a ''rate trade'' button on the profile, if you trade with someone, you go to the profile and rate the trade, what you got, if it was good bad or neutral, some commentaries... and if you where buyer, seller or a trader...
