At long last, I have enabled the posting of attachments directly to forum posts. You no longer have to upload the files to your own server or to some place like imageshack.us and then manually type in the links. Now when you're writing a post, there will be a button labeled "Add an Attachment". Just click that button and start adding your attachments!
Right now, the only rules in place are:
1. 5 meg file limit
2. Image formats only - jpg, gif, etc.
Even though the file limit is 5megs, please don't feel like you have to post images that big. Images that are 1024x768 are perfect for large viewing. When you post a large image, a 400-pixel thumbnail of that image will be automatically created.
So give the image posting a try and post some feedback here if you see anything you would like changed.

File attachments UPDATED
I just updated the way attachments are displayed in the forums. I was never very thrilled with the format in which they were displayed. Here's how a recent attachment looked with original attach_mod format:
So I did a little changing of the code and it should now just display the file comments and a click-to-enlarge thumbnail picture. Like this:
(The images above are just images - not actual attachments - so you can't click on them.)
I still have the default thumbnail size set at 300 pixels high. My personal preference is 150 (that's what all the pics I post manually are set to) but I figure 300 will make the thumbnails at least a little bit easier to view.
What do you guys think? Do you prefer the old or new method of viewing attachments?

Tables
A table definitely has its advantages. You can consider augmenting the table for a variety of content and entries for easier viewing and viewer lookup. But if your happy with your change nothing really has changed; the pictures are the same.
But having a pictured centered on your monitor is definitely a plus.
