And here's the official description:
MRE Info
A handy reference to keep you up-to-date on information about "Meals, Ready-to-Eat", or MREs.
In addition to complete menu listing of all MREs going back to 1981, you'll also find menus for foreign military rations and an MRE-related newsfeed.
MREs are the main operational ration for the US military. They are "ready-to-eat" meals in that all components are fully cooked and ready to consume. Typical contents include an entree, side dish, crackers, peanut butter/cheese spread, dessert, instant coffee, matches, toilet paper, spoon, and heater to warm the main entree.
MREs aren't just for the military anymore and have long been a favorite of campers, hikers, and families wanting to store food for emergency preparedness. When natural disasters such as hurricanes or earthquakes strike, MREs are often used to feed those affected.
This app provides a complete reference for all the MREs menus. There are 24 different menus, or flavors, of MREs. While the main entree is marked on the outside of the bag, the other contents remain a mystery until you open it. With this app, you'll have a listing of all the contents of every MRE so if you're looking for that elusive Pop-Tart, you'll know exactly which MRE to grab.
Other features include:
- Other US military rations menus: First Strike Rations, MCWs, etc.
- Rations menus from other countries: Great Britain, Germany, France, etc.
- Information on civilian MREs
- How and where to purchase MREs
- A news feed with the latest MRE-related news.
This app requires an Internet connection. 3G, Edge, or Wi-fi will work.
