Any tips for Chicago.
Any tips for Chicago.
I am going to US Navy Bootcamp over at the great lakes in 25 days. And my A-school is also at the great lakes. I am going to be in the Chicago area for 2 years. I am wondering of any tips of things to do and what not.

The Navy Pier is really great so you'll have lots to do right there in the area and there is much more happening all over town. Just ask around to what your interested in when you arrive. Personally, I am a fan of going to Wolves games (AA hockey). Much cheaper than Blackhawks and traffic is not nearly as bad as downtown. Plus the Wolves program really puts on an entertaining show.roncamp wrote:I am going to US Navy Bootcamp over at the great lakes in 25 days. And my A-school is also at the great lakes. I am at the age now where I don't much enjoy trips to downtown nearly as much (darn those kids *shakes fist*) so I don't have many specifics for you but I am betting you will not be bored in your 2 years. I hope you enjoy it.

Any good Militaria shops in there. I love WW2/ Cold war militaria
Re: Any tips for Chicago.
Here is one hint where you may find what you are looking for on Cold War/ WW2 items:
Army Navy Surplus: 3100 North Lincoln Avenue Chicago, IL
Maybe worth a look as I haven't been to Chicago myself, just passed through there once.
Also note do a double check on this place since I pulled this from another forum I belong to. That and a Internet search might bring up several other places you can go to some of which are located outside Chicago.
