I saw that deleted scene (that's a long scene!) last year some time. I'm a big fan of Aliens so the scene was really cool to see. For anyone who hasn't watched it yet, it basically shows what happened at the colony before the Marines arrived - after the Company told them to go check out the crashed alien spaceship.

You could tell the deleted scene didn't quite have the same "finish" or polish as it would have if it was left in the movie, but it's definitely something a fan of the series should see.

But as neat as it is, I'd have to agree with the decision to cut it out. Just watching the Marines go in cold without having any info about what really happened there made it more spooky.

Great clip!

Deleted Scenes

You can find many deleted scenes from the Aliens Quadrilogy here:

If you can find a means to view the .iif files pass it on. The company wants a fee for the download codec.

It looks like that's the "Indeo Interactive Format". IIRC, Indeo is a really ancient (1999) codec. But I can see why they're using it since it creates such crappy copies of the video, it's hard for the movie companies to complain about them reproducing their stuff.

My system was able to play those files no problem and about the only codec set I have installed is Xvid. You might want to give that a try.

I too remember seeing that scene for the first time a few months ago. Always wondered how the settlement came to its end. The missing scene sure brings it all home.

I wonder if the new game will have the feel like say, Doom3. I remembered the original AVP, and while it had its moments, the biggest creep factor was playing a human
