Loads of Traditions, most don't make much sense nowadays...
Me, USN 1968-1978.
dirtbag I get what you are saying bro. Like Steel Pots, canvas web gear, flat mess tins, polished black boots, white name tape
Naming
all CVN after former Congressmen, Senators, or former Presidents is what I have a problem with.
(sometimes even a former Secretary of Defense)
Congressman X was a true Friend of the Navy, Senator Y was a good guy. we will name a Nuclear Aircraft carrier after him.
Presidents OK I can live with a USS George Washington.
But Harry Truman was in the Field Artillery/ He wanted to get rid of the large angle deck Fleet carrier USS United States .
Name a new Howitzer system after him.
Also with the US presidents the US Navy has to pick one
R and then one
D to please each party.
As for me If the Navy asked ''what CVN names would please YOU Norton?"
I would start with
Enterprise (They have a new big E in the pipeline for 2025)
Here are more to pick from
Constellation Lexington Saratoga Ticonderoga Yorktown Bunker Hill Independence Princeton Intrepid Ranger Langley* Essex Hornet Wasp Midway Coral Sea Valley Forge Kitty Hawk
(first American Aircraft carrier*)
