One of my favorite series of all time - I've seen it through at least a dozen times by now. When they made The Pacific as a follow up a few years ago I was a bit disappointed that it didn't draw me in and keep me coming back like Band of Brothers did. It was definitely a fantastic series, but Band of Brothers is a hard one to beat.

Band of Brothers is a 2001 American war drama miniseries based on historian Stephen E. Ambrose's 1992 non-fiction book of the same name. The executive producers were Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, who also collaborated on the 1998 World War II film Saving Private Ryan and the 2010 World War II miniseries The Pacific. The episodes first started airing on HBO September 9, 2001. The series won Emmy and Golden Globe awards in 2001 for best miniseries.

Author's Note: My grandfather related to me a story exactly similar to the example portrayed in Band of Brothers long before this series was produced or screen adapted. I memorialized Cpl Beades in my post on The Sinking of The RMS Laconia He was with the 9/4. I know they were in the region and crossed The Rhine River. He related the event to me starkly when he said,

They had us zeroed
