The Best of the Animals

"We Gotta Get out of This Place", occasionally written "We've Gotta Get out of This Place", is a rock song written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil and recorded as a 1965 hit single by The Animals. It has become an iconic song of its type and was immensely popular among United States Armed Forces during the Vietnam War.

Talked with Hilton Valentine many times, he used to jam at a local irish bar here in CT. Awesome guy.

The first thing i ever asked him was why he had a huge smile at the end of the House of the rising sun video... but he said he couldnt remember

Had some encounter with at least one celebrity from that period. And related the story (not completely contained in link) but you'll quickly get the idea of a 2000 year old lady.

It was a few years back, but his band was called skiffledog.

I by no means knew Hilton, but he was nice enough to talk with me when i asked about his career. Didnt hurt to buy him a pint first.

... never watched that series, worth a look?

It’s good to share those stories. We have other testimonies on other topics around the forums.

Of course, as you can see, I have the DVD set and was instrumental in the design of the back of the case of The West Point Story making the series more popular.

The stories are good. And reflective of West Point. Eden’s episode was called “A Tough Decision.”

Recommend.

You’ll support the forum if you click the link for the set. Recommend get it before they run out. It’s possible the set will go up in value especially if you can get it signed.

Clint Eastwood, Leonard Nimoy, Hayden Rorke, Steve MacQueen are among some celebrities who appeared in the West Point Story.

Barbara Eden will be in Ridgefield, CT on March 2 performing in the play “Love Letters”
