Hamburger Hill was a film that fell between the release of Platoon and Full Metal Jacket in the 80's. For that reason it wasn't that well known. However, it is a very good movie and holds up well to the two films just mentioned. For this film you have to stay with it and when its over you have to stay with it some more after the final scene to get the full impact of the movie with the commentary. It is now an American Movie Classic.
