My father was part of an Color Guard or Honor Guard [however defined correctly] who buried soldiers who died in the Vietnam War. The families thought that the soldiers presiding over the burial ceremony were his friends. Some of the realities of the burial was that there was no body at all. The Army filled the casket with rocks approximating the weight of the soldier.
